Yes, I must blog about this. Here's the deal... I can't just go to the gym everyday and do the same routine week by week. Elliptical, treadmill, weights, abs, elliptical, treadmill, weights, abs. Sometimes if I'm really feeling rebellious I'll do my weights first. There's no rhyme or reason, that's just what I do.
This week I decided to try something new, Zumba. Or as I like to call it ZUUUUMMBAAAA!!! The capitals and exclamation marks make my voice that much louder. I asked a friend of mine if she wanted to join and luckily she said yes. So I get my regular gym attire on and make John google Zumba so I know what I'm getting myself into. While I'm upstairs getting ready and he's skimming through videos all I hear is "Babe, you're really gonna do this?!" In my head my first response was "Psh! No..." but I actually really wanted to give it a shot. I jumped in the car and headed for the gym.
I get there, meet up with Becky, and we go to the gym connected to the gym. Picture this... A giant gym with two vinyl curtain dividers (you know, the ones with the netting halfway up), Zumba class in the middle, and about 30 men playing basketball on each side. Awe-some. We're kind of standing around waiting and then Gloria arrives. I knew I was in for it when I read the back of her spandex tank and it said "Time to Party".
Now, don't get me wrong, from what I understood from her Gloria was a nice lady. I'm not quite sure if it was her first day on the job, but I had a hunch she might have been making it up as she went along. Why? You ask. Well, I left there with the right side of my body feeling worked out and somewhat tired. My left side, on the other hand, not so much. Gloria kept forgetting to "swish sides" as she would call it. I was, however, entertained by the fact that she kept encouraging everyone to get into the moves by saying "Seduce your man by doing THIS!" All in all I'm not sure if I'll return.
Zumba, instead of 2 you get 1 thumb up... my right one.
I want to try Zumba but don't have anyone to go with. I imagine your lady must've been new because when I watch the people at my gym doing it, it looks pretty fun and pretty legit! I saw an infomercial and want to buy the DVD. Isabella LOVES dancing and exercising and I thought it would be better for her than Jillian's 30 Day Shred. She loves Jillian, but some of the stuff is just too tough for a 3 year old, ya feel me?!
